Hidden Secrets Disclosed

Scripture

Luke 8:16   “No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.  17 For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.  18 Then pay attention to how you listen; for to those who have, more will be given; and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.”

Observation

The light of the kingdom of God will shine brightly in those who follow after Christ. Eventually no one will be able to hide the mysteries and secrets of the kingdom for they will all come to light. The light of kingdom will continue to burn brightly and therefore, those with the light are charged to be responsible with that light. Allow the light to shine brightly and lift it up before all. The more that you care for the light, the more hidden secrets will be disclosed.

Application

There are good secrets and there are bad secrets. No matter how hard we try, secrets will eventually come to light. Mostly we hear of the consequences of bad or negative secrets. When the light of truth shines on them they become an embarrassment.

The hidden secrets of the kingdom of God will never be an embarrassment. The more that light shines from the kingdom of God, the more that the truth of the kingdom will be revealed. As followers of Christ we are to be reflections of the light of the kingdom in all that we do. The hidden mysteries of God are disclosed by the ways in which we engage in kingdom work in the world. The more that we engage in Christ’s activity, the more that he is revealed. This is why when we receive the light of Christ and new life in the kingdom we are not to hide this news from others, but we are impassioned to share it with the world.

What kinds of secrets would you like your life to hold? The good or the bad? Choose you this day whom you will serve!

Prayer

Lord, may your hidden secrets be disclosed in and through my life. Amen.
